ITF – Ballykeefe – Edit
August 17, 2009 | Category: Uncategorized | 1 Comment
Feeling a little low after missing what could only be described as the most awesome come back gig ever, ITF in Ballykeefe last friday hitting the stage and blowing away not only the crowd but all surrounding wildlife i decided to check out a series of photos taken by their resident photographer, Aido Brennan @ Stranger By Day Photography. These photos have come a really long way since last years gig and i have to tip my hat to the man.
Having to entertain my creative curiosity i just had to play around with some of the shots. This was also a change to practice the colorizing skills i picked up in college. Colorizing is the practice of re-colouring a black and white or greyscale image. Something quiet fun when your not happy with the colour of the original image or just want to bring out some extra tones. Using monochome photos is perfect for this as they provide beautiful tones and shades.
The photo is of Jimi Trigger from Itchy Trigger finger sporting his new look of happiness while performing a “brand new set” from a “brand new band”. Never a dissappoint ment when these get on stage.
I just want to say thank you to Aido for a fantastic shot allowing me to post my edit of it.
Hope you enjoy it.

It’s suprising how easily distracted one can get when there are buckets of photos to be put up online. Its gotten a little dead around the rayobrien.com shelves. Not that many gigs going on at the same time that i have a night off. And a night not off was a long time ago! With a few days this week to scratch my bum a little i have decided (not influenced at all by Aido giving out to me at the weekend) to dig up some old photos that should have gone up ages ago. Im also going to start taking more photos again. I have a CD cover to prepare for. Concept art is done, now all i have to do is create the assets and build the full res layout and piece it all together. Oh, and of course, release the CD long side a big green mushroom cloud!
Shown bellow is a series of photos taken during the last second edition of Trig promotions featuring; first time on stage “A Message from Vega”, nationwide known Tool tribute band “The Grudge” and one of Dublin’s biggest metal outfits “Hero in Error” with their really tight t-shirts for sale!?! Even Jimmy had trouble fitting into a small. Best cut out those cheese burgers dude

Apologies again to everyone for the lateness of the photos.

Social Decay

A new band to add to the list. These guys had their first gig together at Shirley’s pub in Kells over the weekend. Unfortunately, the pub was a typical “bogger” old mans pub with its set crowd and no real interest in heavy metal and rock music. The guys did their best and performed from start to finish un-phased by the flies buzzing around the room. Hope to see them play somewhere a little suitable like cleeres or the pumphouse sometime soon.

Its been a while since i have uploaded anything i have host of random stuff to get up over the next few weeks. Also have a few gigs coming up soon so hopefully we should have some good from that too!
I haven’t brought my camera out with me in quite some time and i must admit, it is annoying as hell. Went to the Can Can Casino lastnight in Kytlers in, and although it wasn’t the best set of dance and solo performances i had ever seen, there was a lot of ideas and shots i would love to have tried out. Maybe next time.
Shown above is two shots from a Teirpark in Bielefeld, Germany. Great day and excellent stuff to see. I had being slacking quite a bit with taking photos of this beautiful city but i think these two are enough to show from what i did take.
